The company also develops fully-rugged accessories for the SwitchBack, and performs fee-based custom engineering for its BackPack technology. Most peripherals can be integrated into a BackPack, reducing the need for cabled peripherals. The SwitchBack itself is customizable through a modular, reconfigurable architecture that features a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). This results in a computer with virtual hardware that can be reconfigured – over many years – to meet each customer’s precise needs, even when those needs change over time.
